The Fraser-Burrard Community Justice Society is a non-profit community based organization that respects the inherent worth and dignity of every person, and believes in their potential to be law-abiding, contributing citizens.  It serves the communities of Anmore, Belcarra, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, and New Westminster.

Fraser-Burrard Community Justice Society

Seeks New Board Members

The Fraser-Burrard Community Justice Society (FBCJS) invites applications from interested individuals to join the society’s volunteer Board of Directors. FBCJS is a registered federal charity following the principles and philosophy of restorative justice in serving Anmore, Belcarra, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody and New Westminster. FBCJS delivers the Community Youth Justice Program (CYJP) and, in partnership with School District 43, EMPOWERING YOUth.

The CYJP accepts referrals from community RCMP, Police and Crown counsel for an effective alternative to the court system. This program offers youth who have committed offences facilitated resolution conferences to resolve conflict with safe and respectful dialogue. The needs of all persons involved are addressed for relationship restoration and healing. Restorative justice supports young people to understand, accept and fulfill their obligations to make amends.

EMPOWERING YOUth is an educational program delivered to elementary, middle and high school students interested in learning about restorative principles for conflict resolution. Each school then establishes its own system of peer teams to assist schoolmates with school related conflicts.

The Board of Directors is responsible for the overall governance and direction of the society. In addition to monthly board meetings, directors participate on one of the standing committees, awareness building initiatives and support all fundraising.

The board is seeking individuals with the desire and availability to assist FBCJS to grow our services in the communities we serve. Individuals wanting to utilize their unique professional and/or personal skills to make a difference for youth are encouraged to apply.
